Former Kentucky star, Thomas, to join Celtics as an assistant

After leaving Kentucky, Thomas was hired as the Celtics’ assistant coach and has been the most productive assistant in the league this season, leading the team in assists and steals.

Thomas was not hired to replace the fired Jaylen Brown, but rather to fill the shoes of Jeff Hornacek, who was fired after two seasons in charge of the Kings.

Thomas’ resume includes coaching at the University of Kentucky (1996-2000), Michigan State (2003-07), UCLA (2008-12) and Kentucky (2012-present).

He was a six-year NBA veteran and won three titles as an NBA assistant with the Dallas Mavericks.
