Georgia Football recruiting staff set to leave, new head coach says

Georgias football recruiting staff is set to depart after the departure of the head coach and director of football operations.

“He’s a great coach and he’s been around for a while,” Harris said.

“He’s just got to take it one game at a time and go from there.”

He is not the first coach to leave the club after the recruitment of two coaches, Michael Chubb and Mark O’Brien, who left the club in the same year.

Darryg Harris’ Georgians last game was a 1-0 win over Victoria’s Melbourne Knights in Round Four in 2018.

Harris was not involved in the Geocities first-ever game last year when the Geelong Falcons lost a penalty to Collingwood, and the Geovia Falcons have not played in any AFL matches since.

Harris has also coached Geelong’s junior teams.

He was assistant coach with the Geos in 2016, and coach of the team in 2017.

Harris coached Geos junior teams from 2014 to 2019, winning the club’s best and fairest award in 2017, and has been promoted to the senior coach role in 2017 and 2018.
