How good are these recruiting classes for Syracuse?

With a new coaching staff and the addition of new players, Syracuse football recruiting is looking good.

Here are some of the top prospects in the 2019 class.1.

Malik Jackson, DT, Jacksonville, Fla.

Jackson was the No. 1 overall recruit in 2018 and was ranked No. 2 overall by 247Sports.

In his senior season, he started 15 games and registered 38 tackles, two sacks, and two pass breakups.

He also recorded nine tackles for loss.

Jackson has a chance to become a first-round pick.2.

Alex Barrett, DT/DE, Fort Lauderdale, Fla./

Barrett started 16 games at DT and recorded 38 tackles (11 solo), four sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery in 2018.

He recorded 25 tackles (17 solo), five sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble, and three pass break-ups.3.

Barrett had a strong junior season, recording 18 tackles (nine solo), a sack, two tackles for a loss, two quarterback hurries, and five passes defended.

He was also named a second-team All-SEC in 2018 by the Associated Press and was a finalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award, given annually to the nation’s top defensive back.5.

Marcus Murphy, CB/S, Tampa Bay/Fla./Georgia 247Sports 247Sports is a leader in recruiting the 2018 class and has three top prospects.

Murphy, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound cornerback from Fort Myers who played in seven games at cornerback for the Blue Devils, was a first round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks.

He has a shot to become an NFL starter.6.

Justin Edwards, CB from St. Petersburg, Fla.(St. Petersburg Times) Edwards was the second-ranked cornerback in the country according to 247Sports and was the first defensive back taken in the 2017 NFL Draft.

He had four interceptions, one pass broken up, and four pass break ups in 2017.

He earned a second round pick by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2016 NFL Draft and played two seasons with them before being traded to the Houston Texans.7.

Murphy had a successful senior season with 35 tackles (13 solo), two interceptions, two pass broken-ups, and eight pass break downs in 2018 with the Buccaneers.

He finished his collegiate career with 1,539 total tackles (8,073 solo), 11 pass break fumbles (four forced), three fumble recoveries, and nine interceptions.8.
